This is the Garrett
GTP38 turbocharger for the 1999.5 - 2003 Ford 7.3L PowerStroke. This turbo has
been designed to improve on the turbo response time and reduce the excessive
turbo drive pressure. These improvements reduce exhaust temperature, improve
fuel economy and can handle high performance injectors by burning the extra fuel more efficiently which results in less smoke under load.
The new 88 mm compressor wheel provides 33% more flow than the stock 80 mm
wheel. The compressor flow range of the new ported shroud housing has an improved
flow range that eliminates the present surge condition.
The 1.00 A/R turbine housing and the new low resistance ball bearing design
reduces the amount of pressure required to drive the turbine wheel.
