The 6.0L Power Stroke debuted in 2003 and produced an impressive 325 hp right off the showroom floor. A variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) was added to help meet emissions requirements. Power and fuel economy was better than the 7.3L, but some of the early 6.0L's were plagued with mechanical problems. Most of these problems have been remedied under factory warranty and the 6.0L Power Stroke has proven to be a strong running and reliable engine with a lot of potential for performance and fuel economy increases. There is an abundance of aftermarket performance options to choose from for the 2003-2007 6.0L Power Strokes. Cold air intake kits and performance exhaust systems will get you a few extra ponies while lowering EGT's and increasing fuel economy.
