We remember when GM introduced their "new and improved" 6.5L Turbocharged engine with the latest technology in electronic fuel injection. It's not a good memory, but we remember it well. The now infamous Stanadyne DS4 injection pump has marked it's place in diesel history like a zit on the face of a 16 year old kid on the night before the prom. I can't remember how many of those pumps we rebuilt under GM's warranty program those first few years, but it was a LOT. Some of them passed through our doors at least 2-3 times or more before all the updates were finally in place and the customer could actually get their truck out of the driveway. GM and Stanadyne took a huge gamble when they neglected to do some proper testing on their new system, and it bit them in the ass. But the good news is that the serious bugs have been worked out and the DS4 pump is actually a pretty solid and reliable unit. The PMD is still an issue, but we've even got the answers to all of your PMD problems here too. We also have some great performance upgrades that will help you get some better fuel economy and some really decent horsepower gains.
